About Heather – San Francisco Bay Area Family Photographer and Wedding Photographer

ABOUT ME PAGE

Hi!  Thanks for visiting me!  I’m Heather, a San Francisco Bay Area Family Photographer and Wedding Photographer.

I am a wife to an amazing and funny man and a mom to two beautiful little girls, Lilly and Haley.  We have 2 pups…Harley and Cali. Harley, who we rescued almost 8 years ago from the animal shelter and she is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met.  She is a mut; 1/2 australian shepherd, 1/4 pitbull and 1/4 boxer.  Cali joined our family recently and is also from the animal shelter.  She is 1/2 australian cattle dog and 1/2 australian shepherd.   I truly feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have been blessed with such a great family and to be given the opportunity to pursue my passion of photography.

Photography isn’t about capturing the best composition, or perfect depth of field to me…it’s about capturing true emotion, memories and moments that should never be forgotten; to be able to freeze those moments in a photograph is amazing and I love being able to be apart of freezing those special moments for everyone.

Other than photography:

I love cupcakes.  Like seriously love.  If you’ve never been to Icing on the Cake in Los Gatos, you must go and get yourself a banana cupcake. Seriously, it’s heaven!

My favorite candy is salt water taffy.  I have to get some from the Candy Baron every single time we visit Monterey!  YUM!

I love Jamberry Nail Wraps...my nails feel so naked without them!!

I love to Lift/Workout..powerlifting is my favorite!…gotta work off those cupcakes!

I love the beach.  And so does my whole family….we go whenever possible…it’s my favorite place to be!  I love to run in the waves and splash around with my girls.

I love the rain and puddle jumping with my daughters.

I’ve always been into sports.  I am a huge basketball, baseball and softball fan.  I played basketball and softball in high school (and before…I literally played year round and my parents took me to tournament after tournament…we were always busy with sports!) and even continued softball in college on a scholarship.  In fact, I met my husband, Aaron, in Omaha, Nebraska while attending school at Creighton University.  He was there to play baseball and I was there for softball (and learn! LOL)….we were both from San Jose, went to rival high schools and had mutual friends but we didn’t meet until we traveled a little more than 2000 miles away from home to attend college.  It was just fate, and with us really, as they say, the rest is history!

Another huge part of my life is helping to unravel pediatric cancer.  My best friends daughter, Jennifer (JLK) was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) on her 6th birthday.  Jennifer was my oldest daughters best friend.  DIPG is terminal upon diagnosis and Tony and Libby, Jennifer’s parents, were told she had about 9 months.  She lived 3.5 months after the diagnosis on her birthday.  We were fortunate to make many memories in that short time….fancy tea parties, the glitter shoot, bowling parties, an epic play date, and more…but the big one…that one last final play date for my daughter, Lilly, and her best friend, Jennifer.   That last play date is one of my best and hardest memories.  I’m very thankful Jennifer gave us that last play date…we will all truly treasure it forever.  Jennifer is Forever 6.  Forever Missed.  Forever Remembered and Forever a Best Friend.

Tony and Libby have since set up a non-profit and I am willing to help them in any way possible to unravel pediatric cancer.  And like Libby says, “Glitter is like knowledge…It sticks with you.”  and we all need to help spread the glitter.  And I’m going to do just that.  I’ve recently re-branded my website and I have done that in honor of Jennifer.  The colors are pink (her favorite color), grey (brain cancer) and gold (pediatric cancer).  You may wonder why the hexagons?  Well, the glitter we used in her session is the shape of a hexagon.  I also used hexagons because of graphene.   The day Jennifer left us, I went to Tony and Libby’s home and drew a mural with sidewalk chalk..I drew a dragonfly which has always been a symbol for Jennifer for Tony and Libby…I surrounded that dragonfly  by graphene. It is one of the strongest materials in the world. It has 6 sides (for the most beautiful 6 year old I’ve ever known) It is strong, flexible and nearly transparent. We will remain strong for her and find a cure. Libby and Tony’s transparency, much like graphene, of their story will open eyes and hearts and help lead us to a cure. I honestly believe that with all my heart.

You can read more about Jennifer and her story at her site.  Please head on over there.  Read her mom’s words.  Follow her story.  Learn the facts about pediatric cancer.  Become aware.  The more we know, the more we can do and the better we can be.  Help spread the glitter!
